Project Facts and Figures - Number of donors to date: 2,250
Cost
factor in raising these monies is 1.33%. Therefore, for every dollar
spent, 98.67 cents goes to the BHSC. Building on good foundations was the theme of a presentation of a cheque for $1000 to Brian Todd of the Brighton Health Services Centre. Incoming President of the Brighton Home Builders Association David McDonald (centre of picture) in presenting the cheque said that despite all of the negative publicity that has been going on people shouldn’t lose sight of what has been achieved in Brighton. Over $2.4mill dollars has been raised for the infrastructure of our health centre and that gives us a tremendous foundation on which we can build and provide a needed service. The Association is supporting Council in its drive to recruit new doctors and with the facilities we have in place it is only a matter of time before we have full surgeries.’ Outgoing President Stephen Tobey (right side of picture) said that we spend as much time selling Brighton as we do our homes and you can be certain that with potential clients from out of town the first two questions are, ‘what is the doctor situation?, followed by ‘what are taxes like?’. ‘Good health is the foundation on which we build our lives so it is important for us to support this worthy cause’
It was smiles all around as Brighton Health Services Centre's Brian Todd received a cheque for $ 3,269.86 from No Frills owners Lori and Mike Van-Haarlem's recent "Smiles" fundraising campaign. A recent campaign at Brighton's No Frills will help asthmatic children in the area. No Frills co-owner Mike VanHaarlem said that the "Smile" campaign stems from the President's Choice Children's Charities, and that more than $ 3,200.00 was collected from customers throughout the past several weeks. Each time customers came through the check-out, they were asked if they would like to contribute to the campaign. "This money is all from the customers" said VahHaarlem. "We just collected it and are ensuring it goes to help children". The Brighton Family Health Team will soon be setting up a new asthmatic program, and these funds will go towards the purchase of a spirometer, a device for measuring lung capacity". There are more and more children who seem to require inhalers", said Brian Todd, a Brighton Health Services Centre representative. "This money will go a long way towards helping our children breathe a little easier". Photo courtesy of Joyce Cassin.
