Family Health Team
The
Centre has a primary care area of 5,000 sq. ft. containing equipment
and technology for five physicians. Each doctor’s office is fully
furnished and each doctor is provided with two equipped examination
rooms.
The Family Health
Team has two registered nurses, a nurse practitioner dietician a
phlebotomist and a social worker.

YMCA
In December 2003, the Family YMCA opened, providing health,
recreation and physical programs for the community. These
programs provide a natural support to the
efforts of the primary care practitioners of the BHSC
assisting them in meeting the health and wellness needs of their
patients. The YMCA has a supervised child care area. Community
members can participate in YMCA programs and services through
membership or day user fees. The YMCA is open to all and the YMCA
Assistance Program ensures access for all in the community. Their
membership now exceeds their goal of 700 members.

The Ontario Early Years Program
The Ontario Early
Years Centre opened on February 2, 2004 providing families and
caregivers an opportunity for children ages 0 to 6 years to develop
social, physical and mental skills. The Early Years Centre is a place
for parents and their children. Children are born ready to learn and
parents can help them succeed.

Haliburton, Northumberland & Victoria Community Access Care
In March 2004, the Haliburton, Northumberland and Victoria Access
Centre, opened a satellite office for the Brighton area. The
Community Access Centre offers simplified access to a wide variety of community health services for eligible
clients. They work to provide health care and support services to
maximize independence at home, in schools, or if necessary to
co-ordinate admission to long term care facilities.

Hospice Northumberland Lakeshore
Hospice Northumberland Lakeshore opened a satellite office to
service the needs of palliative care families in the Brighton area,
in May 2004. The modern hospice movement offers rest and comfort for
people living with life-threatening illness, and for their families
and other caregivers. Trained volunteers offer this support.
Emphasis is on maintaining dignity, choice (such as staying in your
home if possible) and quality of life. Volunteers offer help with
practical needs such as child care, transportation and light bedside
care. Clients are supported in their homes, in hospital or wherever
they reside.
